Fort Normandeau + My Favorites
A replica of the fort built in 1885 at The Crossing, site of the original Red Deer settlement. The ford in the river at this site became an important stopover for traders. During the North West (Riel) Rebellion, the structures were fortified. May 16 to Sept, daily noon - 8 pm, hols 1 pm - 5 pm. Stephansson House Historical Site + My Favorites
30 minutes southwest of Red Deer on Hwy 592 and 781 (approx. 2 hours
sothwest of Edmonton). Stephansson House is a classic tribute to
homesteading life and to one of the greatest poets in the western world,
Stephan G. Stephansson, Poet Laureate of Iceland. Admission: Adults-$1.00,
